Bannockburn Pool Development Plans

As you may know, big plans are in store for upgrading the Bannockburn Pool. We have been working since last summer 2008 with the county to prepare various preliminary plans for the site overall, a forestry plan and an environmental and water runoff plan which must be submitted before the county will grant permission to expand. This is still work in progress. One these are submitted and approved we can get formal cost estimates from construction companies and pursue financing. Given the status of this work, the uncertainty around financing availability and the general economic conditions at the start of 2009 we anticipate construction after the 2010 season. However, we hope to be a sufficiently advanced to consider a 2009 project especially if contractor bids come in lower than expected due to the housing crash. Between now and then we need to:

• Complete the preliminary work and obtain approvals from the County
• Ensure we have sufficient funds to complete construction whilst leaving the pool on a solid fiscal footing
• Secure the full approval and backing from the membership

We continue to seek and welcome members' thoughts and feedback on the process and the designs.
